Long An international Port: Potential of Mekong Delta
In the flow of International trading, Vietnam Government is investing in Long An International Port – international trade centre of the Southern Vietnam area, especially the Mekong Delta. The port bases on Soai Rap river bank, Tan Tap village, Can Giuoc District, Long An Province. The planning is divided into 7 stages and total capital investment is more than VND9,000 billion, expected to work with the highest capacity in 2023.
Can Giuoc District, with the support from related Departments, continues launching major project construction as Tan Tap – Long Hau, Duc Hoa – Tan Tap and Tan Kim – Long Hau; at the same time, they keep connecting DT 835 with DT 826C and rebuilding Ong Chuong bridge,… to make a traffic system between industrial clusters in Long An Province and Ho Chi Minh City and other areas.
835B, 826C, 830 roads and 50 highway are expanded, upgraded and surfaced with Asphalt concrete, includes 835A road, make it easier to connect villages and towns with administrative quarters. These roads are the main keys positively contributing to the trading condition between Can Giuoc Province and neighbouring areas like Can Duoc, Ben Luc and Ho Chi Minh City.
Recently, CEO of Golden Wave has visited and experienced in observation the future development path of Long An International Port. Mekong Delta area’s annually total import – export includes a large amount of agricultural product and aquatic product; However, the international trading process have to go a compass, which make Cat Lai port has been overload .
According to Ministry of Industry and Trade, the amount of goods is transfering through Mekong Delta is predicted to be about 25 – 28 million tons per year from now to 2020, and about 66.5 – 71.5 million tons per year to 2030, which shows that Mekong Delta area has a great demand in investing in logistics activities, both infrastructure and logistics companies development. Bringing logistics activities together into a place through Long An International Port is also a better way to distribute works and decrease the pressure of Ho Chi Minh City ports.
